Honestly, on first thought, I didn't think this movie was very bad at all. In fact, I thought it was actually pretty good!
I mean, it's definitely really funny at points, and the plot is really good and makes you feel good, and the actors were great and the cameos rocked... But there was oooone little issue that I can't look over and that's the character development.
So, usually how these movies go is that there's a sports team, and they're the underdogs for one reason or another. Nobody believes in them, they have a rival team that they miraculously beat in the end, and when they do you just feel this surge of emotion that "Yes! They did it!". But the thing here is that there wasn't really any of that.
The characters were definitely there and the few that they expounded upon were very good. But that was around 5 characters; the coaches, the star player, the love interest, and the dean. Other than that, the characters kind of fell short.
I mean, there's obviously some development, or else it just wouldn't be a movie. But if you were to point out a character and tell me their name and one fun fact about them, I would probably cry and leave from embarrassment. Even if I watched the movie thirty-thousand times, I probably wouldn't be able to tell you.
And I do understand that this movie focuses more on the comedy aspects of it then other sports movies, so maybe that explains why the characters were lacking, but still. And it's not even that this movie was cut short! It's an hour and 45 minutes long! And it feels like a very short movie, but then by the end you have 20 minutes left and you're lost on why they haven't gone over the characters, like, at all.
Okay. From everything I just said, it sounds like this is a bad movie. That is simply one aspect of this movie. Besides that little quirk, I think that this movie is actually very good. My heart wants to rate it at like an 8-8.5/10 but I think that characters are actually very important to a story, and definitely to a sports movie, so I knocked it down a little bit.
So yeah. Great movie, great character concepts even if they weren't really expanded on. Good movie! Would've been better if it was a little longer, but still great.
Okay, looking back, I dissed the characters a lot. They're GOOD CHARACTERS!!! They just probably needed a little more introduction and description.

who was that one twink who was the only one who survived the initial cooking of the team... he was so fine...
Also, am I the only one who thought that the main character looked like Jeffrey Epstien? Is that just me?

EASILY the funniest guy in the movie... even though he isn't really shown that much, I honestly loved him every time he was on screen.
My first pick, honestly, was the Samoan, but I feel like that's everybody's first pick, because he's awesome, so I decided to go with a different guy. Plus! The Samoan might've been awesome, but this guy was definitely funnier.
I feel like he would need more screen time in order for me to talk about him more... whatever. Funny guy. Yay!
My other pick was the samurai guy... or that one guy who made the cut... idk. This guy's awesome.
