Comedy/Action; R
2007

I don't know whether to rate this a 7.5/10 or an 8/10 but I'm gonna go for the higher score because it was a good movie.
This movie is somehow related to Shaun of the Dead, which I've seen a while ago and I remember being really good. This movie was pretty good, I guess, but I think Shaun of the Dead is better. Why, you may ask? Well let's do a little compare and contrast.
In Shaun of the Dead (SD), I thought that they did a very good job of mixing the action with the comedy. I think that instead of mixing the two together in Hot Fuzz (HF), they were just in sections. In the beginning, it was more like a comedy than an action. And then at the end, I feel that it was more action, and less comedy.
I also dislike the trope of that whole "one sane character in a world of idiots", which is kinda prevalent here. Okay, I lied. I hate it. It's the worst trop of all time. And since the first half was full of it, it made me very irritated.
But anyway, I feel like SD was more set on being a comedy with action parts in it, and I feel like HF instead went with an action movie with funny parts in it, but like also not really? I don't know... Both tried to be funny, and both were. Just in different ways.
Okay, off of the comparison. I think that the characters were kinda really irritating, which I understand was the point and it still doesn't make them any less irritating. But near the end they got better, which was nice.
Also, I think that the twist was really good. Usually, when twists are halfway through the movie, they are kinda mid, but I think they pulled this one off pretty well.
I also think it's a very pretty movie in it's own little way. I think the colors are really nice and such, and I also think the cinematography is pretty good too.
I'm running out of things to say about this. In conclusion, it was a very funny movie but also very action-packed, and also exceedingly long. You think it's over when it's only halfway through, that kind of thing. But overall, I think it was a good movie.

Probably

Nicholas Angel!
He was kinda the only one in the whole movie who I didn't really get exceedingly frustrated at.
No, but he was also a really good character. I felt like I understood him. Also he was very smart. I understand thatthat was part of his character, but I feel like usually with police character their big flaw is that they're dumb somehow. I guess one could argue he was dumb with love and relationships, but I mean... like okay...
But anyway. This guy was hilarious and smart and I liked him a lot. Yay!!!
